  • Frosty's 10mm Seleucids

I have been beavering away on 10mm scale Seleucids (as 10mm is the scale we have chosen at Oxford Gaming Club as its really cheap to collect armies & they dont take much space)

Here is the progress painting I have made so far

Phalangites.. the backbone of the Army

    Argyraspides ('Silver Sheilds')
    Leukaspides ('White Sheilds')

    Chalkaspides ('Bronze Shields')

    Chrysaspides ('Golden Shields')

    ELEPHANTS! cos why not!

I have loads more to paint & photo will post them up when ready in the comming days

I like the ferrules on the pikes. Most people don't know that the Macedonian pike was 2 pieces and joined prior to battle. Very interesting to see 10mm cast with that detail.

I cannot tell basing from the photos. Do you use a reduced basing?

We decided to go for 50% base sizes e.g. a Horde base which in normal 28mm scale would be [20cm x 8cm] is just [10cm x 4cm] we are going to play the game in cms instead of inches too.

Opted for 10mm myself with my old man, starting with Celts and Roman but the joy of using 10mm and Multibase's it is not going to cost the earth

                Companion Cav & Cataphracts

Went for a wedge formation on the Companions as I could not get a diamond formation on the base area...

Rally nice! I like the wedge formation for the companions! May I request group photo of all painted units?

Keep up the great work! I am sure I will get to my Seleucids at some stage too so thanks for the inspiration.

Well after a long period of doing nothing (new kid really cramps hobby time) I finally have started a new project for KoWH

                    ROMANS!

Here is the first unit I knocked out for a tester before smashing out the rest of them!

Those look great. Are those transfers on the shields?
